AT&T expands gigabit service to Sacramento, Cleveland
AT&T expanded its gigabit speed broadband service into parts of Sacramento, CA and Cleveland, OH, the company announced. The two cities are the latest in AT&T’s significant fiber expansion. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to expand its gigabit Internet service to businesses and households in eight markets in the west, midwest, and south.
Current plans are to bring gigabit service to 38 new metro areas, and AT&T announced that it may expand its fiber-to-the-premises build beyond its previously expected 14 million sites as it sees new opportunities to bundle broadband with video service now that AT&T has integrated DirecTV. AT&T said earlier this year that it will “continue to expand our 100 percent fiber AT&T GigaPower network to additional locations," planning “to triple availability by the end of 2016.”
