Black Friday shoppers chose e-commerce over brick-and-mortar stores

For the first time, more Black Friday weekend shoppers chose to spend their money online instead of visiting brick-and-mortar stores. According to the National Retail Federation, 44 percent of Americans surveyed said they shopped online during Thanksgiving weekend, while 40 percent shopped in traditional stores. This shift highlights the importance of high-speed Internet access in the growing digital economy. E-commerce connects customers with products they want, and helps companies find their customers.
