Rep. Clyburn announces creation of House Task Force on Rural Broadband

Rep. James Clyburn has announced the creation of the House Task Force on Rural Broadband, which will attempt to close the digital divide and bring world-class high-speed Internet to rural America by 2025. The task force, which consists of 17 House Democrats, plans to hold regular meetings with stakeholders, market participants, local governments and administration officials, and will push for inclusion of broadband funds in any proposed infrastructure bill.

“It’s unacceptable in 2019 that many rural communities have limited to no access to the Internet,” Clyburn said. “If rural America is to thrive in the 21st century information economy, it must have affordable and accessible Internet service to every community.”
