“For too long, regulators have had tunnel vision when it comes to anti-trust review,” said CWA President Chris Shelton. “The Biden Administration and the Department of Justice should take a serious look at the impact of this transaction on jobs and wages.”
The Emergency Broadband Benefit provides a discount of up to $50 per month toward broadband service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands.
"The core of this bill is simple," said Local 1298 President David Weidlich. "No taxpayer money should be used for companies that continuously ship our jobs out of the state."
CWA’s District 9 contract with AT&T West is set to expire on April 4, and CWA members are urging the company to invest in workers and network improvements that would benefit customers.
“CenturyLink continues to try to shirk its responsibility to over 100,000 New Mexicans who rely on the company for residential phone service, particularly in rural areas” said Brenda Roberts, CWA District 7 Vice President.
“T-Mobile is so eager to pad its executives’ bank accounts that they couldn’t even wait until the merger has gone through to start firing people,” said Communications Workers of America President Chris Shelton.
As state regulators in several states investigate service quality issues at Frontier, CWA members have been calling on the company to invest in its network and workforce to improve service quality in Ohio and Minnesota.
