AT&T building out Austin?s higher speed U-verse
Last November, Speed Matters reported the rollout of AT&T’s U-verse with GigaPower, its all-fiber network in the Austin, Texas area. This week, the company announced that it “...plans to expand the all-fiber network to reach twice as many Austin, Texas area households in 2014.”
AT&T currently provides Austin with up to 300 Mgps, and to increase speeds up to 1 Gbps later this year.”
According to Austin AT&T general manager Dahna Hull, the service is successful, with Austin subscribers buying and using its GigaPower “at rates 15 percent to 20 percent higher than the average U-verse user...”
