CenturyLink to pay $10 million to settle deceptive billing allegations in Oregon and Washington
CenturyLink will pay $4 million in Oregon to settle allegations that it misrepresented the actual cost of its services, including a promise to refund $673,000 to more than 8,000 customers. “Purchasing internet, phone service and cable is confusing enough without false promises, and confusing prices and fees. Today’s settlement sends a clear message that hidden fees and other forms of unfair and deceptive business practices will not be tolerated in Oregon,” said Oregon Attorney General Rosenblum. The Oregon settlement follows CenturyLink's $6 million agreement with the Washington Attorney General in December 2019.
