CenturyLink Plans Gigabit Fiber to Apartment Buildings in Portland
CenturyLink has offered to wire 15 apartment buildings in Portland, Oregon with gigabit fiber. The company is seeking applications from high to mid-rise buildings with the offer of free installation and a $79.95 monthly charge for “up to” 1 Gig Internet connectivity.
The offer appears to be a response to Google Fiber’s moves to enter the Portland market. Google has been pressing Portland to remove all regulatory requirements as a condition for its entry into the local market.
