Comcast’s gigabit deal in Chicago is too good to be true
Comcast advertises a gigabit service for $70 per month in Chicago. If that deal sounds too good to be true, that’s because it probably is.
When one Chicago resident tried to sign up for the $70 gigabit service, he was told by Comcast that he’d have to pay twice that much per month for 1 Gbps download speed. “While the $70 rate is available to ‘certain’ people in Chicago, it isn’t available to me,” Chris Zimmerman told Ars Technica. Comcast is “testing the discounts in certain areas, and as more competition is available, they will expand it to other towns,” the company replied.
