FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn to resign
FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn, one of two Democrats on the Commission, announced that she intends to resign after nine years of service. Clyburn served as the FCC’s interim chair for six months prior to Chairman Wheeler’s nomination, the first woman to hold such a position. Clyburn was a consistent champion of civil rights and consumer protections at the Commission.
“Commissioner Clyburn has been a forceful advocate for change, for equal opportunity, and for closing the digital divide,” said Commissioner Rosenworcel, Clyburn’s fellow Democrat on the Commission. “It has been an honor to work alongside her to put consumers first and bring connectivity to those at greatest risk of being left behind—urban, rural, and everywhere in between.”
