Governor Patrick Reiterates His Commitment to High Speed Internet Accessibility
Newly elected Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is part of a growing list of Governors who recognize the importance of expanding high speed internet access. During a call-in show on Boston’s NPR affiliate WBUR, he reiterated his commitment to expanding high speed internet access to the commonwealth. We've posted the audio here:
I do see high speed internet and access to that form of connectivity being very critical to our economic development as well as our educational opportunities and I am committed to delivering that kind of connectivity commonwealth wide. It is very interesting ... even in the Boston area there isn’t universal access to high speed internet services.
Gov. Patrick continues to briefly discuss the plans for a new fiber optic spine being developed in partnership with the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Check it out -- it's a good listen.
