Hawaiian Telecom is bringing gigabit service to rural locations with CAF funding
Hawaiian Telecom is bringing gigabit fiber-to-the-home service to at least one community with funds from the FCC’s Connect America Fund (CAF). CAF money helps carriers expand broadband service to rural locations. Hawaiian Telecom accepted a total of $26 million in CAF funding and agreed to build broadband infrastructure and provide service of at least 10/1 Mbps to more than 11,000 rural locations. Puʻu Lani Ranch will be Hawaiian Telecom’s first gigabit deployment using CAF funds.
