NLRB: T-Mobile violates US labor law – again

T-Mobile continues its attack on workers who want to join together for a union voice. But the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is striking down the company’s illegal policies at every turn, most recently ruling in favor of the workers' union and against T-Mobile in Wichita, Kansas.

An NLRB administrative law judge ruled that T-Mobile’s call center in Wichita unlawfully stifled inter-employee communications, coercively interrogated workers, isolated union sympathizers, and put its workforce under surveillance.The NLRB ordered T-Mobile to reverse these policies and notify employees of their legal rights.

"We are here to just improve what we've got,” said Nicole Hamann, who has worked at the call center for almost two years.

Earlier this year T-Mobile started a company union to drain support from an independent one. A company union is controlled by company management instead of representatives elected by the workers. Prior to that, the NLRB found T-Mobile guilty of nationwide labor law violations for illegal corporate policies that blocked workers from organizing or even talking to one another about problems at work.
