Speed Matters Activists Get Noticed by Congress
When we sent the new Speed Test report to Congress, you did the crucial legwork and followed up with your Senators. Some said they got the run around, others reported their Senator’s staff was familiar with the report, and being overrun by calls. One person even spoke directly with their Senator! The important goal is to keep these issues, and bills like the Broadband Data Improvement Act (S.1492), in front of key legislators who can make universal high speed internet access a reality.
Here are just some of the great comments we got from people who took the time to let their legislators know that universal high speed internet is important to their constituents.
I talked to [Senator Tom Harkin] personally. He understands the issue and has a position paper we can support.
Kay P.Staff of [Senator Charles Schumer] report receiving a large volume of call-ins on this matter.
William W.I spoke with an aide and urged [Senator Ron Wyden] to support the bill because it's important to our economy, especially people in rural communities. She said she would share my comment with the Senator.
Jeanne C.Reached the staffer responsible for Telecom issues. The staffer was not familiar with the bill but committed to find the CWA report and get it to [Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison] along with my request to support the bill.
