T-Mobile reveals data breach impacting 2 million customers

T-Mobile revealed in an email to customers a data breach impacting a potential 2 million customers.

“On August 20, our cyber-security team discovered and shut down an unauthorized access to certain information,” the notice read. “You should know that some of your personal information may have been exposed, which may have included one or more of the following: name, billing zip code, phone number, email address, account number and account type.”

T-Mobile is currently trying to merge with Sprint. The companies have wanted to merge for years, but earlier discussions never panned out after the FCC and DOJ made clear they would oppose any combination of the number 3 and number 4 wireless companies.
