Trump says infrastructure package will “have to wait”

President Trump admitted that his $200 billion federal infrastructure package will “have to wait until after the election.” He claimed that Democrats won’t work with him, even as Republicans, Trump’s party, control both houses of Congress.

Lawmakers from both parties and CWA have called for significant investment in broadband infrastructure. Democratic lawmakers called for $40 billion in direct broadband investment. In June 2017, CWA urged policymakers to take action to accelerate broadband deployment and close the digital divide with $40 billion in infrastructure subsidies for underserved communities, tax initiatives to spur investment in gigabit networks, and digital inclusion initiatives to make broadband more affordable.
