Verizon details Boston FiOS deployment schedule
Verizon’s FiOS buildout in Boston will begin in the West Roxbury neighborhood in September, the company announced. Customers are expected to be connected by the end of the year, and the $300 million buildout will continue across the city beginning in Dorchester and Roslindale.
Verizon’s fiber build in Boston is integrated with its next-generation 5G wireless deployment, signaling a change in the economics of fiber expansion. That’s great news. But when will Verizon bring its fiber service to Buffalo? Or Baltimore? And other cities – on the East Coast and elsewhere – that want high-speed Internet?
