Veterans Administration & Department of Defense Planning for Joint Electronic Health System
The Department of Defense (DoD) is preparing an implementation timeline for an electronic health care system for DoD and the Veterans Administration. Due to the Defense Secretary in May, the report will lay out milestones and plans.
Lt. Gen. Eric Schoomaker, the Army surgeon general, said:
"No two health organizations in the nation share more nonbillable health information than the DoD and the VA. The departments continue to standardize this sharing activity under delivering information technology solutions that will significantly improve the sharing of appropriate electronic health information."
According to Politico, the consolidation of electronic health data and data centers on an open-source platform will take three to six months.
