AT&T 3Q report shows big U-verse growth

AT&T released its third-quarter earnings report and it shows the same kind of growth that characterized Verizon’s 3Q this week. Over all, “For the quarter ended September 30, 2013, AT&T's consolidated revenues totaled $32.2 billion, up 2.2 percent versus the year-earlier quarter.”

AT&T’s combination fiber/copper-to-the-home U-verse service is reaching more subscribers than any other fiber service. AT&T is noting that U-verse has its first billion-dollar revenue month. Specifically, U-verse revenues are up 28.1 percent over the same quarter last year, and that in number total U-verse subscribers have topped 10 Million. Of those, 5.3 million are TV subscribers, with the remaining in voice and Internet.

This growth was exceeded by AT&T’s wireless operations. As the company said, “In the third quarter, AT&T added nearly 1 million subscribers, delivered strong wireless revenue growth and postpaid ARPU gains, and continued to expand its high-value smartphone base.” In detail, wireless revenues climbed 5.1 percent over the 2012 quarter and wireless data revenue up 17.6 percent.
