The Workers Independent News recently interviewed CWA President Larry Cohen for their special report about Speed Matters:
We’re still in 20th century internet and much of the rest of the world – including the OECD countries, the large economic democracies, are at a much higher standard. And that’s because public policy matters. It matters in health care. It matters in many aspects of daily life, in energy policy. It also matters in terms of the Internet. And currently we have no public policy at all in the United States.

Clearly in the U.S. to get there we’re going to need the public private partnerships with government working with Telecoms, cable companies and others to build out this network in a reasonable period of time.
