Not enough competition for high-speed broadband and video
Competition for high-speed broadband and video services is limited to areas with Verizon's FiOS and AT&T's U-Verse, as detailed in a recent story in The Wall Street Journal. In other areas, cable, which has the majority of subscribers, generally holds a monopoly franchise.

The last map, though, doesn’t bode well for the future. If Comcast succeeds in acquiring Time Warner, the cable giant would dominate much of the U.S.
