Teamsters Strongly Support the AT&T and T-Mobile USA Merger

Union groups across the country are rallying support for the proposed merger of AT&T and T-Mobile USA. The merger will expand high-speed wireless broadband to 97 percent of the country, and provide T-Mobile's workers the freedom to choose to join 42,000 unionized workers at AT&T.

A letter by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters shows support for the merger.

"This merger not only represents a commitment by AT&T to take the necessary steps toward expanding and modernizing America's network infrastructure, but also means that hundreds of T-Mobile workers will work for a management team that maintains full neutrality toward union membership."

Hoffa adds that CWA involvement with the merger would benefit the workers involved in the merger:

"I have no doubt in my mind T-Mobile's workers will only benefit from their association with the CWA and the union's president, Larry Cohen."

The teamster letter of support joins praise from technology, labor, and minority groups across the country. Most recently, the AFL-CIO of West Virginia highlighted the merger as a critical step towards bringing good jobs and stronger broadband infrastructure to the state.
