Applicants seeking broadband funds searchable by technology
Fierce Broadband Wireless analyzed the list of applicants seeking broadband stimulus funds, allowing users to search applicants by technological category.
Almost 2,200 bidders are applying for about $28 billion in broadband money appropriated by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Approximately $4 billion will be available in this first round.
Many of the applications are for companies operating in underserved areas, from rural Alabama to urban Los Angeles. Some, such as United Utilities, Inc. in Anchorage, Alaska would use the latest undersea fiber broadband technology to provide access to remote communities that have previously been unreachable.
