The American Fork, Utah fiber-optic network is up for sale, again
American Fork, Utah was in negotiations to sell their fiber-optic network to a Swedish partnership, but had to cancel the sale when the partnership was unable to gather the funding needed to invest a planned $8 million in American Fork’s network.
The city purchased the network in 2002 for $6 million, with officials expecting to bring in $300,000 a month. The network ended up losing $1.2 million a year, with American Fork currently owing about $5 million on the bond used to purchase the network.
Back to the drawing board, American Fork is collecting new proposals to buy the network.
