New York regulators to review T-Mobile-Sprint merger

The New York Public Service Commission (NY PSC) launched a review of the T-Mobile-Sprint merger, and is requesting comments on the proposed merger with a deadline of November 16, 2018.

The Communications Workers of America (CWA) projects that the proposed T-Mobile/Sprint merger could result in the loss of 1,641 retail jobs in New York. Nationally, CWA projects that the proposed T-Mobile/Sprint merger could result in the loss of more than 28,000 jobs - 24,000 from the elimination of overlapping retail stores and 4,500 from the elimination of headquarters administrative functions.

Earlier this month, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) also launched a review of the merger which will include public participation hearings later this year in addition to its legal review and an evidentiary hearing in February 2019, with a final decision in second quarter 2019.
