FCC revises the 2019 Broadband Deployment Report
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recirculated a revised 2019 Broadband Deployment Report. The revised report corrects for overstated coverage data submitted by the Barrier Communications Corporation. The company claimed coverage for every census block in the states where it offered service to any census block and exaggerated its deliverable speeds.
According to an FCC press release, the number of Americans lacking access to a fixed landline broadband connection was 21.3 million at the end of 2017. The Commission has not yet released the report to the public.
