Comcast to restore data caps for northeast US customers

Comcast will start charging $10 for every 50 GB of data from customers not on its unlimited data plan who exceed 1.2 TB of data. The additional charges will be capped at $100. Customers in the Northeast will be affected by the change including those in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Vermont, West Virginia, the District of Columbia, and parts of North Carolina and Ohio.

In March, CWA and consumer advocacy groups urged major broadband providers to lift data caps, waive data cap fees, and take other steps to help the American public stop the spread of the novel coronavirus and facilitate access to essential communications services for all.
