Report: Over 40 percent of households with broadband Internet access had a telehealth visit in 2020
Over 40 percent of households with broadband Internet access had a telehealth visit in 2020, according to a report from Parks Associates, a market research and consulting company. The rate of telehealth visits increased from 15 percent in 2019. Consumers are also increasing their use of Internet-connected health-related devices, with 29 percent planning to buy at least one new product in the next 12 months.
“The COVID-19 pandemic caused a massive increase in telehealth and health tech adoption among both consumers and care professionals,” said Kristen Hanich, Senior Analyst at Parks Associates. “2020 forced both groups to rely on virtual care, and with our data showing high levels of satisfaction among users, many consumers will be reluctant to revert back to in-person services and lose the convenience of virtual visits.”
