CenturyLink and Frontier fail to meet FCC deployment deadlines in 23 states
CenturyLink and Frontier failed to meet the FCC Connect America Fund Phase II (CAF II) broadband deployment deadlines in 23 states. The CAF II auction awarded $505.7 million to CenturyLink to deploy 10/1 mbps fixed broadband to 1.17 million homes and $283.4 million to Frontier to deploy fixed broadband to 659,587 homes by December 31, 2020. Auction rules require CenturyLink and Frontier to come into full compliance within 12 months or they may be required to pay back the amount for locations not served with penalties.
