Streaming services continue to threaten traditional TV offerings

Internet streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime continue to grow in popularity, threatening traditional pay-TV service subscription models. A study from Parks Associates found that 49 percent of US households with broadband subscribe to Netflix. And a recent Morningstar estimate shows the number of Amazon Prime subscriptions around 80 million households, approaching the almost 100 million households with traditional TV subscriptions. When will Amazon Prime overtake old-school pay-TV? Soon, it seems. How will pay-TV providers respond to changes in the video market? Yet to be seen.
