Consumer spending on digital content will continue increasing
Consumers will spend more than $220 billion on broadband services and digital content in 2015, according to a recent PricewaterhouseCoopers report. As reported in USA Today, across every category of entertainment and media, spending is expected to increase by 5 percent, totalling almost $595 billion by the end of this year. In particular, the amount consumers spend on Internet access is expected to increase “nearly 13 percent in 2015 to $130.2 billion,” and spending on digital media is expected to catch and surpass spending on traditional media within five years.
