AT&T new high-speed Internet option expands to 7 more cities
AT&T is expanding its national project to put more speed into existing copper wire broadband networks. Project VIP was launched in the fall of 2012, and in December, 2014 began offering 75 Mbps service, in sections of Sacramento and Monterey, California; Toledo, Ohio; and El Paso, Texas.
But this week, in a blog post, Bob Bickerstaff, vice president of Voice & Data Products for AT&T revealed that the company will be expanding the high-speed tier to “Augusta, Ga.; Charleston, S.C.; Cleveland; Columbus, Ohio; Fort Lauderdale, Miami and St. Louis, Mo. “
Bickerstaff had told FierceTelecom, that the company’s "intent is to go national with all 21 states in our complete VDSL (Very-high-bit-rate digital subscriber line) footprint" with the 75 Mbps speed tier.”
