In comments to NYC, CWA urges universal access, digital inclusion, fair labor standards
The Communications Workers of America (CWA) District One – which includes New York, New Jersey, and the New England region – submitted comments in response to the NYC Connected Request for Information to solicit ideas for potential strategies and partnerships to achieve universal gigabit-class broadband throughout New York City.
In its comments, CWA urged the city to provide universal access to both wireline and wireless high-speed networks, take aggressive action to ensure Verizon, Altice, and Charter meet their franchise and merger-related commitments, require all broadband providers to provide good jobs with fair labor and safety standards, and continue to expand NYC’s comprehensive digital inclusion program.
The goal of the Request for Information is to solicit ideas for strategies and partnerships to achieve universal gigabit-class broadband throughout New York City.
