Frontier, Lumen expand fiber deployments
Fresh out of the bankruptcy proceedings, Frontier Communications expanded its fiber reach, adding 185,000 new fiber locations in 3Q 2021, with a year-to-date deployment of nearly 450,000 fiber passings. Frontier plans to expand its reach to 5 million fiber locations by the end of 2022 and 10 million locations by the end of 2025.
Lumen Technologies (formerly CenturyLink) announced plans for the expansion of its residential Quantum Fiber service to 12 million locations in the coming years. Lumen has a current fiber reach of 2.5 million locations and plans to reach an additional 1 million fiber passings this year.
