Netflix is most viewers’ top choice for TV viewing

Netflix is the most popular platform for watching television – beating out traditional pay-TV subscriptions, broadcast television, Hulu, and YouTube, according to a survey of consumers by a Wall Street firm. In a survey of 2,500 US adults, 27 percent said Netflix was the platform they use “most often to view video content on TV.” Pay-TV came in second with 20 percent, broadcast in third with 18 percent, and YouTube in fourth at 11 percent.

Late last year, PricewaterhouseCoopers reported that the number of US households who subscribe to traditional pay TV service is now equal to the number of Netflix subscribers. Netflix and other streaming services are a significant force behind the pay-TV subscription rate decline.
