New York?s ?pay phone? of the future is here
LinkNYC is live. The pay phones of the future are here, and they don’t require payment (from the user). The city’s network of high-speed, multi-purpose wi-fi kiosks – called Links – are up and running across the five Boroughs. Links allow users to make domestic calls, connect to gigabit wireless Internet service, view city maps, and contact emergency services. Users supply an email address and costs are covered by advertising on the kiosks. More than 500 Links will be live by the end of this summer.
