Study: US Continues to Trail Peers in Broadband Development
The United States is ranked twenty-third in broadband development according to recently released global rankings.
The rankings are based on a measurement tool, called the "Broadband Composite Index" that comprehensively evaluates broadband development of fifty-seven countries.
Using five categories — household penetration, speed, affordability, and value for money — the U.S. ranks far below most of its industrialized peers and barely beat out Bulgaria, and Greece.
South Korea, known for its high computer penetration and active government role in broadband, topped the rankings followed by Hong Kong, the Netherlands and Lithuania.
