Verizon Challenges FCC Net Neutrality Regulation

The Federal Communication Commission's open Internet regulations, adopted last month, have been formally challenged in court by telecommunications giant Verizon. The legal challenge contends that the FCC overstepped its authority in drafting regulation that requires phone and cable companies to treat all Internet content and services equally.

The net neutrality regulation creates a framework for preserving an open Internet, ensuring that companies like Verizon can't discriminate against online calling services such as Skype or Internet video services which would compete with their own services.

The Communications Workers of America supports the open Internet rules adopted by the FCC.
