Verizon closes $1.8 billion acquisition of XO Communications

Verizon closed its takeover of XO Communications, a $1.8 billion deal that was announced February 2016, delayed by the Verizon workers’ strike, and approved by the FCC in November 2016. The deal will expand Verizon’s fiber network in 40 major US markets and increase its 5G-capable wireless spectrum.
